Silver Spiral Creations | Artisan Studio Photo Session | Whiting Mills: Winsted, Connecticut
One of the things that I LOVE about getting to work with local artisans is learning about their background and technique. Having the opportunity to walk around their creative space and capture the elements that are used in their maker process is so special. Behind every piece of jewelry is a story of inspiration, raw materials, tools and practiced skill.
Lynne, owner of Silver Spiral Creations, opened the doors of her studio in the Whiting Mills building in Winsted, Connecticut to show some behind the scenes of how her elegant jewelry comes to be.
Fun fact: It involves fire.
Each piece of jewelry is created one at a time. I use techniques such as sawing forming, soldering, pressing, grinding, hammering, and texturing. Each piece originates with a piece of sheet metal, and ends with a dimensional piece of jewelry.
